Living experiment in half-timbered house
Waddeweitz Estate (DE)
A historic half-timbered house as a playground for the future world of living and working? This is the vision for a renovated estate in northern Germany. The site combines traditional construction with modern sanitary technology from Geberit.
How can the areas of living, working, learning and holidays be combined in one place? A cooperative wants to find new, creative answers to this question. For this purpose, it renovated an old estate in Waddeweitz (DE) in Lower Saxony. On the spacious grounds with the resonant name “Ding der Möglichkeit“ (A Thing of Possibility), people come together who want to try things out personally and professionally. A three-hectare playground with guest accommodations, event locations, coworking spaces and a workshop with a future lab for creative exchange.
Tradition and modernity
The architectural bijou is a charming and historic half-timbered building. The former agricultural building was converted into a guest house.
After the renovation, tradition and modernity meet here: lovingly furnished rooms with vintage furniture are combined with high-quality sanitary equipment.
Guests should also feel inspired in the bathroom – AquaClean shower toilets and Geberit ONE bathroom equipment ensure this.
Quick and easy installation required
As the builders were confronted with a wide range of requirements in the various buildings, the choice also fell on Geberit products behind the wall. Fast and safe installation played a major role in addition to design. This was the case, for example, with the drinking water system, which had to be renewed across the entire site – a considerable effort given the size of the property. “Geberit FlowFit was a blessing for us installers, and not just in terms of time. The well thought-out system made our work significantly easier,” says the lead plumber Ralf Mühle.
The uncomplicated installation even helped to compensate for construction delays when the entire floor, including connections, had to be replaced in the basement of the barn as unscheduled. The installation of Geberit FlowFit and Silent-PP in a bathroom with shower took an average of eight hours – “a good result”, according to the plumber.
